Not gonny happen

I know I should huv pit this in as a subject yonks ago but didn't.... because.....

Oz telly has just mentioned that (as at 2.30pm in Scotland) there are half a million undecided voters.

That's the Yes vote fucked then. Half a million people in Scotland who are so lacking in nous that they canny differentiate between Big Brother voting and The Shetland Isles... I huv no idea what that means either but I wis never good at comparisons.

It is going to be NO of course because (like 1979?) we are scared of unknown quantities.

Would I vote YES? Too right I would.

I will never forget a television interview (around 1980) with an English politician who thought he needed a passport to get into Scotland.

Incidentally... it isn't Scotland's Oil. It is the companies who spent millions of dollars trying to find the stuff without any backing from any country.... and all of a sudden it's Scotland's Oil.

No it's not..... but it would be nice to get a bit more benefit for Scotland (rather than Aberdeen) than Westminster ever gave us.

Supposedly c.5% DK, so perhaps more like quarter of a million.  I agree that's still too much, and I might have that figure a bit wrong but I'm in a hurry.  Not sure of exact population and not sure of exact number of those registered to vote.  one damn good thing, though, the percentage of people who registered to vote is 95% or 97% - not sure which.  That is enormously high - unheard of in recent years.  (Yeah, I think voting is compulsory in Oz, but honestly, iut's a remarkable figure.  So , whether yes or no, there are people engaging in politics who have never done so previously - not meaning only registering to vote, but many many grassroots campaign volunteers.

I have a horrible fear it might be a narrow "no".

Re. 1979 - the vote was FOR devolution - 51.26% for (odd I am sure I have that figure right)

Well, there's a load of money made in licensing and taxing it, and I'd rather we had it than Westminster.  It's not all of a sudden, anyway - not unless you were asleep in the 1970s.  Which might have been a good idea, thinking of some terrible music and fashions from then.

This is a messy post but I daresay I'l be back to rant about stuff later, or in the middle of night when biting nails and tearing out hair.

I'm honestly no sure if I'm happy or relieved or unhappy.

It's been yonks an yonks since leaving Alba and naturally I should have no say in the matter but..... (and there are gonny be lotsandlotsa buts in my country for the rest of our lives)... but.....

I feel it's a shame we didn't vote Yes because there are gonny be an awful lot of people who are gonny spend the rest of their lives wishing that they could change their minds and vote Yes.

Why? Ask again in 5 years time but I think there is going to be an awfy lot of antagonism between us and the sassenach's in the near future which is a real shame as there hasn't really been all that much nastiness between Scots and English in the near past. Hopefully that will remain as the status quo but ah'm no gonny hold my breath.

Mind you... hands up whoagree thatwe are getting awfy close to the Enoch Powell "Rivers of Blood" speech of 197 whatever?
