Accordin' tae Donald Trump......

..... he was "lured in" and "betrayed."

That translates as, Donald Trump, multi-millionaire business genius, and arrogant prick forced tae admit he wiz outsmarted.

I never yased tae like wind turbines much.

Chump doesn't seem to realise the Parly cannot dictate the actions of a Regional  Council unless said council's plans are against the law and I seriously doubt Wee Eck would be daft enough to promise anything that could come back to haunt him, for a politician he's gey canny. Chump also doesn't realise that having more money than a small third world country doesn't mean he gets to tell us what to do.
aNonnyMoose

It wis wee Joke McConnell, the pinstripe skirt-wearing buffoon, wha made a' the daft promises tae Wiggy.  He's runnin ootae money again (merr Chapter 11's than Enid Blyton) an hus realised he's f*kt as faur as Menie's gaun, si hus tae treh an hink up an excuse tae back oot wi a minimum ae finanshul loss.  His coontints appear tae be as dodgy as wan wha yaised tae hing aboot in here...

Aye, it is kind o' quiet - nearly deid sometimes in fact.

Firstfoot wiz a all-singing-all-dancing sort o' set up. (Fittie hursel' wance said it wiz costin' a hunner quid a month!) Somebody explained tae me that it probably had things ca'ed tags so that when sumdie Googled - say - Scotland/ humour/ whitever, they'd get almost lead tae FF. That's probably how it got ower five hunner members.

However, in spite o' officially ha'en ower 500 members, in reality there were really only aboot 20 fowlk whit were regular posters.

The result wiz that when they twenty fowlk went intae stooshie mode and split up, baith sides wound up wi' a affie wee share o' the cake. We a' lost a bit.

There's a couple o' shared members whit drift atween the twa forums - and there's ithers ower there whit Ah'm sure wuild still be maist welcome ower here - but they dinnae want tae, it seems. I did invite wan o' them recently, but jist got a nice enough and polite reply mentioning no' wanting tae be seen ha'en divided loyalties annat.

If ye want a swatch at the ither bit o' Firstfoot, ye'll find them here. I still go furra read fae time tae time.

http://catskinners.myfastforum.org/

Fittie did start another forum ca'ed WhasLikeUs or something, but it deid fae technical problems Ah think. So they a' decamped tae a Folky-type forum (ower a hunner members, but in reality aboot 6) and seem tae be content there - they make it clear fae time tae time that naebdie here is missed.

The FF um um um um was probably a once in a lifetime thing which everyone in here reading this was privileged to be a part of I think. Funny mix of different characters from totally different lifestyles who all bonded and laffed and laffed together. Was an amazing experience for me personally and getting to know and meet people through this weird medium was/is amazing....the absolute pits that it all fizzled out due to what is really "family" squabbles. Although, having said that, I did meet actually Clash who is a complete prick......................................  Rolling Eyes

Eh, it deffnitly wis a bittae a wan-off, an unlikely tae be repeatit.  Eh mind the first git-taegither in the Caff Royale in Embra - Fitty, Raffy, CJ, Winifred Atwell's Other Piano, mehsel an a cupla ithers - wannae the funniest nichts ae meh life, laffed non-stop fir aboot fower oors...  The stushie ower the Castaway votin, whaur Joke McConnell wis gettin marooned on Gruinard...  at least wan ither toorie in the Caff R, wi Chookie an the lass wi the wee tits (burd varehty - cannae mind hur oan-screen nom-de-plume) fur an avatar...

Howdy, all!

Just some thoughts to rattle the bones/add to what's been said about FF.

I agree that it was a hell of a funny, once in a lifetime sort of a community. And - importantly, in my view - uniquely Scottish. Could not have happened anywhere else or with any other sorta folk. I was introduced to it via the good advice of rdt2. I read and lurked at first and I roared with laughter. It made me feel very proud, in the same sort of way Billy Connolly used to make me feel very proud, back when he was still a Glaswegian and very funny. He did us proud. FF, in its prime, did us proud.

To this day I have no idea what made the atmosphere there curdle so badly; all I know this that once factionalism set seriously in, it set in really quickly and - like curdled milk - there was no rescuing it. In my opinion, the chief personalities of the place changed utterly, damn near overnight. I've no idea why. It's not as if there had been no rammies, and then suddenly rammies started. There had always been rammies, but they were always debated long and hard and with no apparent lasting ill will. Until himself and herself turned into psychotic smallminded fishwives; like something out of a kailyaird novel. The change was sudden, unexplained, astonishing, and regrettable.

After the change in atmosphere, I do know I was viciously treated, especially by the head honcho female there (who seems to think she's some sort of specialist in psychology and went on about me at length and at every opportunity), adamant that she had me sussed. She seemed obsessed. Who, it quickly became obvious, brooked no opposition from another female to her views. That was definitely my experience. All very bemusing; she'd never met me.

Much unpleasantness; such a shame, and no need for any of it. rdt2, who introduced me to FF and to internet discussion forums generally is one of the nicest, friendliest guys I've ever met and is saddened by what happened. He doesn't participate in any internet forums any more.

So after the mass exodus from FF, with many telling the head honchos they'd ruined the place, and the head honchos spitting bile at everyone, I gather the FF website went tits up, and the hard core set up some folksy forum where they continued the curdling among themselves, bitching about musicians doing better than them, and nursing their various wraths...   Rolling Eyes

I joined the Bothy, but other things got in the way and then for various reasons I set up my own wee forum to give a proper outlet for the good folks from, or with an interest in, my beloved west end of Glasgow, cos I was sick of folk being constantly affronted by straight talk on Pat's West End forum; the censorship and PC tweeness there was an embarrassment. (I think I may have posted about it here, but I can't quite remember)

The forum's been up and running for a wee while, and it's certainly not the laugh riot of the glory days of FF... nothing ever could be or will be again I think   Crying or Very sad but it is, certainly, fairly lively and thriving, with a good mix of folk, and we talk about interesting stuff and aren't afraid to speak our minds. No political correctness or offendedness allowed.   Very Happy

I wish the same - lively & thriving - could be said about The Bothy, but sadly it seems it hasn't quite worked out that way.

heidie was  Crying or Very sad a frequent visitor and so is Celyn. Feel free to put your heids roond the door if you feel like a blether.

Same here. I was totally gutted.

These cyber relationships are queer things... I never met heidie, but all that stuff that he put out there, and all the impressions he left us with; it's hard to think that one never got to say cheerio to sumbdy whose company one really enjoyed... that one didnae even know he had died till it was too late to pay proper respects.
